Take Stock
Today’s Scripture Selection: Numbers 1:1-2
“The LORD spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tent of meeting, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying: Take a census of the whole congregation of Israelites…”
As our journey continues with the people of Israel and Moses, and as this year draws to a close, it’s ironic what we find in the Scripture.
Here, in the wilderness by the Holy Mountain, God instructs Moses to take a census of the people – to sort of take stock.
Not a bad thing for us to do on December 31st.
Take stock of
- How God has been at work in your lives this past year
- How you will be called to serve Him in this next year
- How some of your questions have been answered
- How some still remain
- How life is unfolding
- Sometimes in clarity
- Sometimes in wilderness wanderings of your own
But one thing is certain – there is purpose to the journey.
Let’s begin this year with prayerful consideration and determination to be God’s people as He would have us be, wherever He leads.
